Privacy policy
The short version: this website sets no cookies of its own and doesn't track you. We only hold the details you give us when you get in touch about your roof, by phone, WhatsApp, email or our contact form, and we use them for that.
1Who we are
Raise the Roofs London Limited (company 15585290, registered office 39 High Street, Orpington BR6 0JE) is responsible for the personal details we hold. For anything about your data, email john@raisetheroofslondon.co.uk or call 07976 611534.
2This website: no tracking
We don't set cookies of our own, and we don't use analytics, advertising tags or chat widgets. The only form is the contact form, described below, which uses Google reCAPTCHA once you start filling it in. If you choose dark or light mode, that choice is saved in your own browser (local storage), is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time.
Like every website, ours is served by a web host, 365i, whose servers keep standard technical logs (such as the address a request came from and the page asked for) to keep the site secure and working. We don't use those logs to identify anyone.
Links to Trustatrader, Google, WhatsApp and Companies House take you to their sites, which have their own privacy policies.
3When you contact us
When you call, WhatsApp or email us, we receive what you choose to share: usually your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property and photos of the roof. We use these to arrange a visit, give you a quote, do the work, invoice you and answer any questions afterwards.
Our lawful basis is that you have asked us to take steps towards a contract, or we have one with you. Where the law requires us to keep records, for example for tax and accounting, that legal obligation is our basis.
When a job is finished, we may email you to say thank you and ask whether you would leave us a review on Google or Trustatrader. To send it we use the name and email address you gave us, and we keep a copy of that email so we don't send it twice. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in hearing how we did; you can ask us not to send one.
We never sell your details.
4Our contact form
If you send us the details of a job with the form on our contact page, we receive what you type in and tick: your name, email address and postcode, and if you choose to give them, your phone number, the services you need, the kind of property and roof, whether water is coming in, when you'd like the work done, your message and up to five photos.
We use them to reply to you, arrange a visit and give you a quote. Our lawful basis is that you have asked us to take steps towards a contract. The form emails your enquiry to Steve and John, and emails you a copy so you know it arrived. It is also kept in a private, password-protected part of this website that only Steve and John can open, so an enquiry isn't lost if an email goes astray. Your photos are kept there too, never on a public page.
To keep out spam, the form has a hidden field that people never see and a check on how quickly it was filled in, and it limits how many messages one connection can send in a day. For that, the internet address a message came from is kept for up to 24 hours, and a note of any message that was blocked is kept for 30 days. None of this uses cookies.
The form also uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to tell people from spam robots. It loads only when you start filling in the form, never just because you visit a page. Google looks at how the page is being used, collects details such as your internet address and browser, and may set a cookie for that security purpose. It gives us only a score, which we use to decide whether to accept the message. Google's privacy policy and terms apply to that. If you'd rather not, call John or WhatsApp Steve instead.
5Who else handles your details
Only the services we need to run the business: our web host, 365i, which runs this website, the contact form, its private enquiry area and the mailbox that sends the form's emails; WhatsApp (if you message Steve there); Google, for the reCAPTCHA check on the contact form; Microsoft 365 for our email; our accounting software and HMRC for tax records, and our insurer or the Confederation of Roofing Contractors if a guarantee or claim needs it. Each handles your details only for that purpose.
6How long we keep your details
Enquiries that don't turn into work are deleted when they're no longer needed. Records of jobs and invoices are kept for as long as HMRC and our guarantees require, then deleted.
Enquiries sent with our contact form are deleted automatically from the private enquiry area 12 months after they arrive, and any photos sent with one are deleted after 90 days. The emails they arrived in are handled like the rest of our email.
The copy of a thank-you email asking for a review (your name and email address) is deleted automatically 12 months after it was sent.
7Your rights
You can ask to see the details we hold about you, have them corrected or deleted, or object to how we use them. Email or call us and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
